From Adventurer to Bookkeeper to QuickBooks Consultant
I am a loose ends manager, always on the lookout for chaos needing order. I have always been this way. I enjoy the challenge of meeting idea people, asking about the pieces in their puzzle, and finding the proper order of things.
I travel Mendocino County and a bit of Sonoma County, for personal onsite appointments. With the magic of the internet, I’ve been able to work with folks from Washington, DC to Minneapolis, MN to Fremont, CA. On the phone, I follow up with clients for immediate consultations. For reference materials, I design custom QuickBooks user manuals with screen shots, for ease of use.
I arrived on the Mendocino Coast in 1975, with a backpack, my dad's work ethic and my mom's love to laugh. The only thing I have lost is the backpack.
Drawn by the inspiration and incredible beauty of the area, I grew roots and limited my travels to the Coast from Elk to Westport and Comptche, living a simple life and wandering the headlands on the Pacific for endless hours.
The birth of my son in 1981 shook me out of my reverie. It was time to bring back the work ethic. I dove into bookkeeping with pencil and columnar pads, having had a fascination with numbers and order since childhood.
Soon, my direction turned to computers using Filemaker Pro for data management. Later I found QuickBooks, which offered to satisfy my need for efficiency in bookkeeping. I became a QuickBooks ProAdvisor in 1998 and have retained certification since 1999, when Intuit first offered training to its ProAdvisors.
My goldmine of knowledge has come through my experience with many clients and businesses, and especially from my mentors, The Sleeter Group. I continue training in QuickBooks each year, taking at least five days per year of courses. I will soon be offering my expertise in the QuickBooks Point of Sale program.
